New Month = New Coupons

Wa-hooo it's August 1st you know what that means couponers. It's time to print the new batch of coupons!!!!

Reminder you can only print 2 of each coupon per computer.

After you print the coupons you will be asked if you want to sign up for the newsletter. If you decide to do this you will get e-mails that come from coupons.com highlighting select coupons, let you know when coupons have been reset and when new coupons have been released. If you sign up and go to the coupons from the e-mail and print them I am still supposed to get credit. Just thought I would through that option out there for you.

Enjoy your day!

Starting Back to School Shopping?

If you are starting your back to school shopping you might want to take a look at what savings are offered at Target. Besides Target's weekly sales Target offers mobile coupons, printable coupons and Cartwheel. You can stack a manufactures coupon with a Target coupon and use Cartwheel. If you have a smart phone you can download Target's Cartwheel app, sign in using either your Facebook account or your e-mail address. You are allowed so many slots to hold your offers, which then produces a barcode the cashier will scan. The great part about the app is you can open it while in the store scan the items you are about to buy to see if there are any cartwheel offers available at that moment for your items. I did this yesterday for some grill utensils and saved 25% just by cartwheeling. To date I have saved $51 using Target's Cartwheel.

Now that I went on a mini rant about how great the app is, and you don't have to have a smart phone to cartwheel. You can sign in on your computer at http://cartwheel.target.com/ make your potential list and have the cashier scan your paper barcode instead of the barcode on your phone.

There are quite a few back to school/back to college cartwheel offers out there. It's worth taking a few minutes to look to potentially save. Some of the offers expire in a few days, but you never know what next weeks sales and cartwheel offers might be.

Happy Shopping and Savings!!!

Last Day to Print

Since today is the last day of the month it is the last day to print most of the coupons. Print them before they are gone. Some new coupons were released today as well Kraft, Frigo Cheese Head and more. There are only a handful of new ones the bulk of the new coupons will be out tomorrow. It's still worth looking to see what coupons you might have missed on past glance throughs and print away. Keep in mind you are allowed two prints per coupon per computer.

Target Clearance

In my journeys today I stopped by a local target.  Since I know for stores it is the end of one season and the beginning of another I was on the look out for Clearance.

Here is what I found:

Summer type shoes on clearance marked 70% off their original prices.

Clothes clearance signs said 30 or 50% off original prices depending on the rack it was on.

Select garden and outdoor items 70% off original prices.

Toys the sign said 30% off original prices however I noticed things marked 50% off their original price.

Clearance items and prices vary per store.  If you see something I would recommend taking it to the price check scanners located throughout the store and check the price.  Sometimes items are actually cheaper then marked.  It can't hurt to check.

What clearance items have you found at Target?

Just Because it's on Sale....

Just because something is on sale does it mean you need to run to the store to buy it? Just because you have a coupon should you run and use it? Just because it's on sale and you have a coupon you definitely have to run to the store now, right? The answers to all three of those questions are no, no and no. Sometimes people new to couponing and saving feel that they need to take advantage of every deal that is out there. How are you saving if you are buying more than you normally would? Unless you are going to donate the items that are extra to a person in need and it is not costing you more out of your budget only buy what you and your family will realistically use. There will always be deals and savings out there. If you miss a sale, it's okay keep an eye on the paper and realize that sales cycle and so do coupons if you miss something this time around you might be able to catch it next time. Don't fall in the "I need it" or "it's too good to pass up" trap.

You're What?

Have you been in a store with your coupon binder and gotten the "Oh you're one of THEM" looks? Put the items your buying up for the cashier to ring up, you hand over the coupons and get "that look." It's like we are doing something against the law, but in reality we are not. All we are doing is saving our families or families we are helping money. Couponers sometimes get a bad rap that leaves a nasty taste in peoples mouths. We are all not bad people. Don't let "the look" stop you from doing something you enjoy or Have to do. Instead wow them with your savings. Wow them with your knowledge. Maybe even offer to give them a tip or two. Don't back down just because you get "the look." Trust me once those savings start rolling in you won't want to stop.

Is a Newspaper Subscription Worth It?

Are you getting tired of driving to the store to get the sought after newspaper only to find they already sold out? You consider subscribing to the newspaper or newspapers you frequently buy, but you're not sure if it is really worth it. Here are some things to consider:

  • How much are you spending in gas?
  • How much will it cost you to buy the newspaper per week vs a subscription?
  • Have you called to see what offers the newspaper has for home delivery?
  • Are there Groupons available for a subscription to the paper?
  • How about Amazon Local?
Don't fall in the trap.  I saw an offer for one of my go to papers when I need a sought after coupon.  I filled out the form was looking at the different delivery options and that's when it dawned on me.  If I buy the paper at the store on a Sunday I only pay $1.50 or $1.75.  However if I choose a Saturday and Sunday delivery I'm paying $2.50 a week for a days paper I don't want just to get the Sunday paper that I do want. For me it did not make financial sense, however in the winter I might reconsider.

Consider all of your options before you jump on it.

Shop Rite Deals

In the last post I mentioned it's time to print your coupons, you can put those same coupons to work this week at Shop Rite. This week Pampers wipes are on sale for $1.59, if you printed the .50 coupon from my link below you will get the wipes for only .59. Match the right coupon with the sale and you could come out of Shop Rite paying less. Some other great deals at Shop Rite this week: Suave Naturals Shampoo on sale for .88 use the .50 off 1 Suave Naturals coupon from this weekends Red Plum and you get the shampoo for free. Stayfree on sale for $1.99 use the $1.00 off coupon from the Smart Source insert from this weekend and you will pay only .99. If you haven't printed your coupons head here now If you haven't gone out to buy your newspaper yet, what are you waiting for? Just what you will save on the Stayfree and the Suave Naturals shampoo will more than likely pay for your paper in savings. Happy Shopping and Savings everyone!!!

Print Your Coupons Now

We are in the final week of July.  I know I'm stating the obvious, but what this means to couponers is print your coupons from coupons.com before the month is done.

In August some coupons might reset meaning you can print more, or they could be completely gone and replaced by new ones.

So click on the link below and print away!!!

Toys R US Clearance Event-Last Week

While checking my e-mail I stumbled across one from Toys R Us. It appears there has been some big Clearance event going on in stores. Things are deeply discounted which can result in some awesome finds. Since this is the last week of the event, I do not know what is left in stores, how well people picked over the stuff, but it's worth a trip to Toys R Us to find out. You might even be able to get a jump on some Christmas shopping with this clearance event. Come back and let me know of the deals you found at Toys R Us.

A Little Something For the Guys too

If you or for my female readers if your man uses Gillette Body Wash Stop and Shop has them on sale for $2 this week.  Look in the various Proctor and Gamble inserts out this weekend for the $1 off Gillette Body Wash Coupon. Not all Proctor and Gamble inserts have the same coupon and coupon value, so be sure to flip through the insert to make sure you have the coupon before you purchase the paper.  $1 out of pocket for body wash is a good deal in my book.

Wait don't put that Proctor and Gamble insert away just yet.  Another Gillette coupon is a $1 off Gillette Series Shave Gel.  If you or your man are running low on shaving cream  Stop and Shop has men and women's shaving cream on sale for $2 this week minus the dollar off coupon you found in the P & G insert you will only pay $1 for a bottle of shaving cream.

If you don't want to head to the store to buy a paper just to get Gillette Shaving Cream for a $1 out of pocket, head to my Coupons Tab and print the .50 off 1 Gillette Coupon.  As long as the coupon does not say, "Do Not Double" the Gillette .50 off coupon will double to make it $1 off 1 bottle.  Now you have the same value off as the newspaper coupon and didn't even have to leave your house to get the coupon.

Now if I'm being completely honest with you, the $1 out of pocket for the Gillette Shaving Cream is a good deal, but in the past I have been able to get shave cream for free.  Manufacturers are always changing their coupons and what you can use it on.  So weigh for yourself do you go and use the coupon on the Gillette on sale at Stop and Shop or hold it for a better deal.  When weighing what to do remember the Shave Cream Coupon is good until 8/31/14.

My Stop and Shops sales run Friday to Thursday, so this sale is good until 7/31/14 at least in my area.

Stayfree for .99 a Package...Read How

If you are a lady or you have a lady in your life you might want to pay attention to this post.  Starting tomorrow (7/27/14) Shop Rite will have the 16 to 24 ct packages of Stayfree on sale for $1.99 there are some exclusions so make sure to check the ad.  $1.99 per package in itself is a good price, however the price and potential savings is about to get even better.  In one of the two Smart Source inserts this weekend there is a $1.00 off any 1 package of Stayfree.  Use the $1 off coupon starting tomorrow and you can score a pack of Stayfree for only .99 a package at Shop Rite.

If this is an item you use it could be beneficial to pick up multiple newspapers.  When purchasing other papers look at the cost of the paper, the coupons that are actually inside that paper and figure out if you will save more than you paid per paper.

Get Your Coupons

If you are thinking of couponing or you coupon on occasion this is the week you should head to the store and pick up a newspaper.
As you can see there are five inserts in this weekends paper.  2 Red Plum, 1 P & G, 2 Smart Source.

Before you head to the check out with your newspaper in hand flip through your paper to make sure all the coupon inserts are in there.

Remember you can always print coupons from my coupons tab.

Happy couponing all!

Free Paper Towels at CVS

Have you ever seen the big red machines at CVS that you can do price checks on?  Well on those same machines each week you can scan your CVS card and have a bunch coupons come out.  This week if you scan your card at the red machine a .79 cent coupon should come out.  Use that coupon  on the Just Basics Single roll of paper towels that are on sale this week for .79 with card and you will get them for free.

Note: Some items that are free with coupon you still have to pay the tax on.

.59 Cereal at Shop Rite with Coupon

How does only paying .59 for a box of cereal sound to you?  It sounds great to me.  This week Shop Rite has select Kellogg's cereal on sale for $1.99.  If you go to the coupons tab on my blog, you will find coupons from coupons.com among all the coupons you will find a .70 off 1 box of Kellogg's Jiff.  Since Shop Rite doubles coupons that the manufacturer's allow to be doubled you will get 1.40 off that one box of  Kellogg's Jiff cereal.  Making it only .59 the for box.  We bought this cereal a few weeks back and it was pretty tasty, so I plan on heading to Shop Rite myself for a box of Jiff.

Victoria's Secret Panty Party This Weekend

This weekend (7/19-7/20) is Victoria's Secret Panty Party.  In US Victoria Secret's stores only while supplies last on select styles and collections you can get 7 panties for $26.50 plus tax.  I try to take advantage of sales like this since the panties run around $8.50 or higher per panty if bought individually.  I know where I will be this weekend.  Where will you be?

Beware

With the growing use of social media people tend to post pictures of their "haul" or deals on various social media sites.  This is a good way to let your friends know about a potentially good buy.  However, this is also the way that coupon misuse could be spread.  I only post deals that I would do myself and that I know for sure are legit.  Don't take anyone's deal post as a deal you should go out and do until you verified for yourself it is legit and truly a good deal.  I don't care if a coupon is scanning for a smaller than stated toothpaste, if the coupon states 4.0 or larger and you use it for a 2.5 oz that is coupon misuse.  The store might not get reimbursed for the item you misused the coupon on which could cause them to stricken their coupon policy.
I am also seeing people selling their stockpile.  Again this is coupon misuse or coupon fraud.  Many coupons now state that it is illegal to use the coupon on an item for resale.  Read your coupons to familiarize yourself with the ins and outs of that particular coupon.

Misconception of Couponers

Some couponers give couponers a bad name to non-couponers.  I'm hoping this post will help you see a couponer in a different light.
Here are some common complaints I hear about couponers and my take on each of them.

  • Couponers are Hoarders-  I admit I have seen photos of stockpiles of an overabundance of items.  I've even shaken my head at these photos and wonder what the people are going to do with it all.  I can speak for myself when I started couponing I said I was not going to turn into one of those people.  I have kept my word.  I buy what we need, what we will realistically use, what I will donate or help others with.  I have passed up on sales because we have enough of said items.  Bottom line not all couponers are hoarders.
  • Couponers are Shelf Clearers- I truly hate this.  I have come across this many times.  I myself try not to clear the shelf.  I don't go with 10+ coupons for a certain item in one day.  The most coupons I will have is 4.  When I encounter cleared shelves the first day of a sale it frustrates me.  I wonder why they need so much.  What time do I have to get up to find a full shelf?  Why can't you spread out your shopping throughout the week so others can take advantage of the sale?  Yes you will encounter shelf clearers.  Not all of us completely wipe the shelves clean.  Don't let cleared shelves deter you from saving you and your family money.
  • Couponers are Selfish- This is untrue.  I know many couponers who not only get things for themselves, but also get things to donate to food pantries, shelters, to help family members or to give to others.
  • Couponers try to Shove Savings Down Your Throat- Some people are very passionate about saving and don't understand why others would not want to do it.  Coupons are like free money from the manufacturers so why not use it.  However, the couponer might not know that you would be tempted to actually spend more if you have a coupon for items you use.  You just don't have the time. Other couponers have soured your idea of coupons.  You don't feel you need to save.  Whatever the reason is a mature couponer should just let it go.  The mature couponer might offer to give you some tips on savings if you were to ever change your mind.
  • Couponing Takes to Much Time- I used to think this.  I used to think if I couldn't dedicate hours in my day to couponing I wouldn't save.  This is very untrue.  Just by purchasing items on sale you are saving.  Flipping through a few inserts before you head to the store to gather coupons for items you are buying can help you save a little more.  You can coupon on limited time all you have to do is find a method that works for you.  I don't spend hours a day.  If I did I might be able to save more, but I don't want it to consume my life.  Start with 5 minutes a day.  Use that 5 minutes to cut coupons, jot down what coupons are in the inserts in front of you, start your grocery list, or just use that 5 minutes to come up with a plan.
Whatever you do approach the topic of couponing and savings with an open mind.  Have a great day!!

There are Ways to Save All Around

There are so many ways you can save that sometimes we overlook them. Here are a few...Do you shop at stores who offer gas rewards? Do you frequent your local library? Did you know libraries(at least in my state) offer passes to zoos, aquariums and other places that can be checked out?

I do most of my grocery shopping at Shop Rite, which does not offer gas rewards or points. However, I get most of my gas at a Stop and Shop gas station. Even without the gas rewards their gas has been the cheapest for me. I could only imagine if what I spent at Shop Rite I spent at Stop and Shop and the savings I could have on my gas. Wow...

I'm enjoying a TV series that I am behind on. I was heading out to mail my Netflix disc of the series back so I can get the next one. However, before I left I decided to check a local library I know carries TV series. Bingo, they had it. I was able to take out the remaining two discs I needed and paid nothing out of pocket. Some libraries charge for newer releases, but I make sure I avoid those. Libraries are filled with great treasurers waiting for you to find. Take some time and explore what your library has to offer. If you're not satisfied with your city or towns library go to the next town. In my state with a valid library card you can go to other libraries in the state. You might have to fill out a form to be added to their system, but it takes less than 5 minutes. In the past few years I have used the library to take out DVDs and books. I've glanced at the music and audio books, but have yet to take out either.

Since we are talking about libraries people have told me you can take out passes for free admission to zoos, aquariums and other places. I have yet to do this, but it can't hurt to ask what your library has to offer.

Continuing my E-book

A few months back I started writing a couponing eBook. I put it aside until now. I decided to pick it back up, continue writing and get it published. If you were to buy an eBook about couponing what would you want to read in it? What wouldn't you want to read? What will hold your attention?

Target Coupons and Free Folders Deal

One thing I slack at is checking the various stores web sites for coupons.  I decided to head to Target's website and see what coupons they were offering.  I was pleasantly surprised to see that Target has updated the way they display their coupons.  You can now mouse over the coupons to see if it is a Target Coupon or a Manufacturers.  Also by mousing over you see when the coupon expires before you even print it.  This is awesome.  There are a limit to how many coupons you can print per computer.  Remember you CAN NOT copy coupons.  If you want more coupons and don't have another computer in the house ask a friend if they would mind printing it for you

When clicking through the 13 pages of coupons I noticed an Up & Up coupon for $1.50 off 3 office or school supplies.  It pays off to look at the sales ads because Up & Up 2 pocket folders are on sale for .50 each this week.  Before you head to the cashier I would price check the folders you just picked up to make sure they are the .50 ones.  Now head to the cashier with your coupon in hand and your 3 folders and will score all three for free.  You can't beat that.

Come back and let me know if you got the free after coupon folders this week!

Shop Rite $2.90 Out of Pocket

This is what $2.90 out of pocket today at Shop Rite looks like.  I know big deal right?  However, I saved $13.85.  Hearing that you might be looking at the $2.90 out of pocket differently.
Shop Rite's sale this week (7/13-7/19) has Ronzoni on sale for .88.  Although it's not the cheapest I have seen Macaroni on sale for it's the cheapest this week.
As I mentioned yesterday Chock full O'Nuts is on sale for $1.88.  Any coffee drinkers out there knows that buying cans of ground coffee full price is not cheap.  In the Smart Source insert from 6/8 there was a $1.50 off 1 Chock full O'Nuts.  This coupon expires on 7/15.

Chock Full O'Nuts

How much do you think I paid for this?

If you said .38 cents at Shop Rite you would be right!
Shop Rite had Chock full o'Nuts on sale this week for $1.88. I had a $1.50 off one coupon which brought the purchase price down to only .38.
You're probably thinking I should have posted this sooner so you could have done this deal for yourself.  Well I have good news for you.  Shop Rite has this on sale again next week (7/13 - 7/19).  If you have the $1.50 off one coupon as well you can get yourself a can for just .38.

Keep in mind when I mention deals and prices I'm talking about the stores by me.  Sales might be regional (different prices in different states or towns) so consult your paper for the sale price before you set out to do this deal for yourself.

Coupons Page

I now have a coupons tab on my blog. Check it out!!! *Disclaimer I do get paid if you print coupons from my coupons page.

Shop Rite Can-Can Sale

Shop Rite's Can-Can sale starts tomorrow.  I was quickly skimming the ad that goes into effect on 7/13/14 and was excited to see they have 4-C Iced Tea canisters on sale for $2.99.  Tuttorosso Tomatoes will also be on sale.  This is the time to stock up on tomatoes, canned fruit and veggies and so much more.
