This Weeks Sales

The major highlight it seems is back to school things.  Almost everywhere has something back to school related on sale this week.  Since I noticed Target's hours are temporarily changed for August and part of September I think back to school will be getting a big push there.

It seems like everywhere I turn there are back to school sales.  Each week they seem to change, some better than the week before.  Target this week is having a pretty good sale on back to school supplies there are quite a few things you can get for free.  Check out the list that I compiled on Couponmom.com.  Even if you don't plan on shopping today head to target.com and print out your coupons for your future shop.

4 Possible Inserts This Week

Today's paper might have 4 different coupon inserts in it.  A Proctor and Gamble which is good for the whole month of August, 1 Smart Source and 2 different Red Plums.  This should be a great week for getting a good variety of coupons.  It might also be the week to start couponing if you have been thinking about it.  Those four inserts will come in handy in the coming weeks, hey maybe even this week...

Getting the hang of it

I know that I have been couponing for about a year or more now, but I think I have finally caught on.  Watch out when I really do catch on to something.  I grab hold and normally don't let go. 

Lately, I have not been taking my binder with me everywhere I go.  Sometimes that leads me to say, "If I only had my binder with me I could have saved on this, or that, or could have bought xyz today instead of coming back."  I went to Shop Rite to use one of the coupons I worked so hard to track down last week.  This past week Shop Rite had Stay Free on sale for 1.99 a package.  The New Haven Register's coupon insert had a $2.00 off 1 package coupon in it.  I bought two papers last week so I had two of these coupons.  

I took today to organize and catch up with my couponing which helped on my Shop Rite trip.  While in the feminine care aisle, I also picked up two packs of Carefree liners.  Speaking of liners if any of my female readers use them and need them speak up, that is something I get for free quite often. 

So, lets freeze for a moment in my shopping and highlight some of the awesome deals.  So far I managed to get 4 packages of feminine care products for free.   2 bottle of ketchup for only $1.00.  Klondike Ice Cream pack for only .99.

Overall on this shopping trip for the 28 items I purchased before coupons and savings I would have spent, $55.79.  After coupons and savings I only spent $26.77.  I saved $29.02 for an overall savings of 52%.  Gotta like it!!!  

Get Your Papers Early

For some reason I did not go out to buy the paper until after 5 on Sunday.  I won't even tell you how many stores I went to looking for the paper.  I became determined to find this paper.  I admit I thought I was looking for a New York paper since that is where I normally find the coupons I did not get.  Nope, it was the New Haven Register.  Now they might have had it in store 1, but since I didn't flip through the ads in all the papers I don't know.  I learned a few things though.  Always carry some cash on you.  Someone a year or so ago tried telling me this and I didn't completely listen to him.  

If you happen to go looking for a paper it is probably the one that is completely sold out.  Take notice as to which stacks are light or gone.  Stores you frequent find out what papers they carry.  I learned that Shop Rite, or the one I went to, only carries three papers.  It will help you eliminate those stores if they don't carry that paper.  When in doubt head to a corner store or gas station.  The gas stations that carry newspapers seem to carry everything. 

Flip through the papers to make sure they have a coupon insert and that the insert has the coupon you are looking for.  If you are buying more than one of the same newspaper check both.  

Finally if you think it is a really great coupon, don't wait until 5 to look for the newspaper.  The later in the day it is the more people will have already ventured out to buy the paper.
