Get Your Papers Early

For some reason I did not go out to buy the paper until after 5 on Sunday.  I won't even tell you how many stores I went to looking for the paper.  I became determined to find this paper.  I admit I thought I was looking for a New York paper since that is where I normally find the coupons I did not get.  Nope, it was the New Haven Register.  Now they might have had it in store 1, but since I didn't flip through the ads in all the papers I don't know.  I learned a few things though.  Always carry some cash on you.  Someone a year or so ago tried telling me this and I didn't completely listen to him.  

If you happen to go looking for a paper it is probably the one that is completely sold out.  Take notice as to which stacks are light or gone.  Stores you frequent find out what papers they carry.  I learned that Shop Rite, or the one I went to, only carries three papers.  It will help you eliminate those stores if they don't carry that paper.  When in doubt head to a corner store or gas station.  The gas stations that carry newspapers seem to carry everything. 

Flip through the papers to make sure they have a coupon insert and that the insert has the coupon you are looking for.  If you are buying more than one of the same newspaper check both.  

Finally if you think it is a really great coupon, don't wait until 5 to look for the newspaper.  The later in the day it is the more people will have already ventured out to buy the paper.
