Couponing 101 Part 3 Dollar General, Family Dollar, Kroger's and Shop Rite

Continuing on with the Couponing 101 series I started let's take a look at the following stores

Did you know you could use coupons at Dollar General?
Below is Dollar General's Couponing Policy.  You can print a copy of their Coupon Policy here.

Dollar General
accepts Manufacturer’s and Dollar General issued coupons (Including internet coupons) that meet these requirements:
  1. Coupons must be original (no photocopies)
  2. Coupons must have a scan-able barcode or valid promotion code
  3. Coupons must have a printed expiration date
  4. Coupons can be redeemed only for items sold at Dollar General, and can be redeemed only for the exact same item (package weight, size, etc.)
  5. Coupons for free items are only accepted if a purchase is required to get one free
  6. Maximum of two coupons per item. One coupon must be a Manufacturer’s Coupon and the second coupon must be a Dollar General Coupon as long as neither coupon states that it is not valid with other coupons
Dollar General will NOT accept coupons that:
  1. Are from other retailers
  2. Are expired
  3. Are internet coupons without a scan-able barcode and/or promotion code
  4. Contain the combination of an invalid barcode that won’t scan and promotion code that the register will not accept
  5. Are for “free” items, unless a purchase is required (i.e. Buy one get one free is acceptable)
  6. Do not have a “remit to:” address on the coupon
In addition:“Cash Back” will not be issued if the value of the coupon is greater than the purchase price of the item.

As I am looking at all the different stores couponing policies I am seeing they all have similar policies.  However you should not assume just because one store does one thing another store will too.

Family Dollar

You can familiarize yourself with Family Dollar's Coupon Policy here

One thing I found interesting while reading through it was this: Family Dollar $5 off $25 coupon is accepted as long as the net purchase, AFTER all other offers coupons and or discounts have been applied is $25 or more.

Kroger's

I could not find Kroger's paper coupon policy, but I did find their digital coupon that you load to your card policy.

You can only use a digital coupon or a Manufacturer coupon for an item, but not both.
If you want to familiarize yourself with their Manufacturer coupon policy I would recommend going to the Customer Service desk and ask them what their policy is.

Shop Rite

Shop Rite's Coupon Policy is pretty straightforward.  They do recommend checking with your local store to see what their coupon doubling policy is.

If something is buy 1 get 1 free in store you can only use 1 manufacturer coupon on it.

You can read all about their coupon policy here.

Additionally you might want to check out what coupons you can load to your Shop Rite card and use there.  You will find those coupons here

I will continue this series bringing you Stop and Shop, Target, Walmart and Whole Foods policies.  If you I missed a major chains store that you shop at let me know and I will research it for you.
